Six “C’s” to being an effective Deaconess:
Chosen, Christ-Like, Consecrated, Chaste, Charming, Charitable.
The Deaconesses of the Vancouver Avenue First Baptist Church are required to be, and maintain the Six “C’s”. The Deaconess is to assist the Deacons in whatever capacity deemed necessary. They assist in Intake interviewing for reinstatements, letter or Christian experienced, candidates (especially the ladies) when expressing a desire to become a member of the Vancouver Avenue First Baptist Church family. Deaconesses assist the female candidates during baptism and prepare and clean up the communion table. Deaconesses visit the sick at home, the hospitals, convalescent homes; bereaved families, and those behind the prison walls. Deaconess advises, help and encourage the young ladies in all walks of life as they strive to walk in a Christian manner.
